Am I a Good Candidate for Eyelid Rejuvenation?
Blepharoplasty, also known as eyelid lift or eyelid rejuvenation, is a method of restoring a youthful, vital appearance to eyes that are showing signs of aging. Many of our patients complain of looking tired, sad, or older than they feel due to sagging or puffy eyelids. By removing excess skin and reducing or relocating fat, our facial plastic surgeon, Dr. John Vartanian, can often improve the eye area with natural-looking results.
Eyelid rejuvenation can be a great way to refresh the eyes; however, not everyone is a candidate. Dark circles, wrinkles, and fine lines (crow’s feet), are best treated with dermal fillers, not a surgical procedure. Good candidates for blepharoplasty will have excess, sagging skin on the upper and/or lower eyelids. Other indications include:
- Pockets of fat on upper and/or lower eyelids
- Obstructed vision due to sagging skin
- “Heavy” or puffy eyelids
- Under eye bags
Qualified candidates will also have good overall health and realistic expectations. Combining an eyelid lift with other aesthetic enhancements, such as liquid facelift, neck lift, and brow lift, can often provide complete facial rejuvenation.
